LABStat - Methodology and Statistics Laboratory: a quantitative approach to the analysis of social phenomena
The establishment of LABStat (Methodology and Statistics Laboratory) was part of the SUPSI strategic plan aimed at allowing the national and international scientific community to benefit from SUPSI skills in specific applied research sectors, while, at the same time, providing institutions in the local territory with the statistical tools required in order to record and process the information needed for making decisions of a political and social nature.

In this context, the LABStat statistical unit aims to become a key partner for the institutions and the scientific community, in terms of social research studies based on quantitative methods.

Should official data banks on the topics in question not be available, LABStat researchers can also design and execute surveys at the cantonal level, supported by CATI (Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing), the newly-established technology-assisted, data collection laboratory.

Special focus is given to the quality of the primary data collected by the laboratory, in accordance with survey methodology theory.
