Institutes and Laboratory

 
Established in 1992 as the CIM (Computer Integrated Manufacturing) Centre of Southern Switzerland, on January 1, 1998 it became the Institute for Computer Applied Sciences and Industrial Technologies of SUPSI (University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland). The Institute has been located in the Lugano-Manno technological pole since 1994
 
The Dalle Molle Institute for Artificial Intelligence, established in 1988, is a non-profit research institute, affiliated with both the University of Lugano, and with the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland.
 
The Institute for Systems and Applied Electronics studies aspects of electronics technologies and technical computer science as applied to product development.
 
The Institute for Information Systems and Networking studies issues usually classified under Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), therefore ranging from development and software engineering to networking and security by means of information system technologies.
 
The Laboratory studies mathematics/physics-related aspects as applied to engineering. In addition to teaching courses on these topics in all the degree programmes conducted by the Department, its main fields of operations are to provide support, in terms of mathematics/physics-related expertise and instruments, to the research activities conducted by Institutes and industry
