Insurance for Swiss students

Students are not covered by SUPSI insurance against the risk of illness or accident, and must therefore take alternative, individual measures. The University has third-party insurance covering the risk of damage to the health and/or property of students should SUPSI prove to be fully responsible for this damage.

Health and accident insurance for guest students

All those residing in Switzerland are required to take out medical/health insurance within three months from the date on which they enter the country.

Students registered at the Regional Foreigners’ Office will be asked to take out health insurance.

Those with European Health Card (Carta Europea d’Assicurazione Malattia) and those with private insurance recognised by the Swiss authorities may be exonerated from the obligation to register for health and accident insurance.

In these cases, students will have to make direct payment of the costs relating to injury, accident or illness, and should subsequent apply to the following address for reimbursement:
