Mechanical characterization of polymers used in automotive industry

Abstract In order to perform design optimisation and safe design of components and structures subjected to impulsive loads it is imperative the knowledge of the materials response to dynamic loading. Moreover, it is necessary the improvement of the current understanding of the non linear behaviour of materials by taking into account the effect of the rate of loading. This project is performed at the DynaMat Laboratory and is addressed to respond to the above needs. FIAT Group Automobiles S.p.A. has in charged the DynaMat lab to carry out an experimental research on the tensile behaviour of the several polymers used in automotive industry.
