Head of the Bachelor's degree course in Electronic Engineering (w/m)

The University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI), active in the fields of natural and built environment, economics, technological innovation, applied arts, social work and healthcare, learning and education, at the Department of Innovative Technologies (DTI) in Manno, has opened a full time (100%) position for a Head of the Bachelor's degree course in Electronic Engineering.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Head of the Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering, acting as the primary contact point for the module, responsibles, teachers and students of the degree course.
  • To guarantee, in collaboration with the commission of the degree course, the scientific approach and professional orientation of the Bachelor's degree course in Electronic Engineering, defining the objectives, the didactic contents and ensuring the general coordination of the activities.
  • To set up and coordinate the contents and structure of the training course and the study plan, enhancing the opportunities for professional integration of future graduates, developing collaboration with companies and promoting integrated study paths for working students and/or students in transition through dedicated paths.
  • To develop the internationality of the Bachelor's degree course in Electronic Engineering by fostering opportunities for international exchange for the students of the degree course.
  • Contributing with the counterparts of the other degree courses, with the head of basic education of the DTI and with the DTI direction in the definition of strategies and processes, rules, regulations and practices concerning Bachelor's education.
  • To manage, with the assistance of the DTI's Head of Basic Education, strategic projects related to the specific field of education in Electronic Engineering.
  • Representing the Bachelor's degree course in Electronic Engineering at the Extended Direction Board of the DTI, reporting to the same about the progress and development of the course.
  • To contribute to developing and implementing new solutions and updates to the training offer in collaboration with counterparts, responsible for basic training and DTI direction. To ensure the quality of the processes, in particular as regards the evaluation and continuous improvement of the teaching.
  • Promote the Bachelor degree course in Electronic Engineering on the territory and act as a reference point for the external activities of the Bachelor, contributing to the development of collaborations with the schools and professional world.
  • Assume teaching assignments within some modules of the degree course in Electronic Engineering.
  • Actively contribute to the development of the Department and collaborate in particular with the reference institute ISEA, active in the specific field of electronics, actively participating in the direction body of the same institute.

Requirements

Essential

  • Master in Electronics or related sciences with at least 10 years of professional experience after the end of the studies, distributed between the industrial sector and academia.
  • Knowledge of the state of the art in the technical-scientific and professional contexts of the discipline of reference.
  • Excellent evaluations of their teaching activities and management experience in training.
  • Teaching qualification or willingness to achieve it within 3 years.
  • Autonomy, listening skills, excellent organizational and management skills.
  • Relational and communicative skills and attitude for teamwork, with a strong orientation towards collaboration.
  • Availability and flexibility to achieve the objectives.
  • Mother tongue or excellent knowledge of the Italian language. Excellent knowledge of English and a second Swiss national language.

Preferred

  • In-depth knowledge of university training and research systems, and of UASs.
  • Knowledge and relations with the reference disciplinary sector at local and/or national level.
  • PhD and/or professorship in the subject area in question.
  • Experience and responsibility in research in the relevant disciplinary field.

  • Fixed term contract; in addition to the assignment of Head of the Bachelor in Electronic Engineering, the function will be that of Lecturer, Lecturer-Researcher or Professor in relation to the Curriculum Vitae and qualifications of the candidate.
