Researcher (w/m) in computer engineering applied to audio/video processing

The University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI), active in the fields of natural and built environment, economics, technological innovation, applied arts, social work and healthcare, learning and education, at the Department of Innovative Technologies (DTI) in Manno, in particular the Institute for Information Systems and Networking (ISIN), has opened a full time (100%) position for a researcher in computer engineering applied to audio/video processing. Contract start date 01.03.2020.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Contributing to applied research projects in the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) jointly with local companies.
  • Contributing to the acquisition of competitive research funds and the preparation of grant proposals.
  • Contributing to the development of the Institute.

Requirements

Essential

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering or equivalent title.
  • Skills in algorithm development for audio/video signal processing and for computer vision.
  • Extensive knowledge of widely used programming languages, frameworks, and tools (in particular C/C++ and Python).
  • Demonstrated software engineering know-how and agile software development skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English.
  • Good social skills.
  • Ability to work in heterogeneous groups and to solve problems independently.
  • Good organizational skills and problem solving mindset.

Preferred

  • Skills in deep-learning techniques applied to computer vision.
  • Team management experience.
  • Good knowledge of written and spoken Italian.
  • Knowledge of either French or German.
  • Familiarity with the Swiss business landscape.
