Postdoc Researchers in Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning

The University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI) active in the fields of natural and built environment, economics, technological innovation, applied art, social work and healthcare, learning and education, opens 3 positions at the Dalle Molle Institute for Artificial Intelligence (IDSIA), for 2 Researchers in the area of Machine Vision-Learning (occupancy 100%) and 1 Researcher in the Fintech domain (occupancy 50%). The contract is for 2 years with possibility of prolongation.


  • Basic research: aimed at publications in top journals and conferences.
  • Applied research: collaboration with companies in innovative projects.
  • Acquisition of funds regarding both basic and applied research.



  • The machine vision-learning positions are for a person with a master degree (also soon to be achieved) and a person with a PhD (titles obtained no more than 5 years ago). For the latter we ask for an excellent publication track (relative to the age/experience) in top journals and conferences of the related field.
  • The Fintech position is applied, we look for a bright person willing to expand our fintech research group's applied activities. The person should hold a master degree and a certified experience of many years in the Fintech domain.
  • All the degrees should be in a quantitative area, such as Engineering, Physics, Statistics, Mathematics, or similar ones.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Excellent programming skills and proficiency with state-of-the-art libraries for machine vision-learning and related areas.
  • Good knowledge of Matlab and Python.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Communication and collaboration skills.

Optional but preferential

  • Experience in working in European and industrial projects.
  • Good knowledge of written and spoken Italian.
