Internet technologies and standards

The Web is in continuous evolution since the first web of HTML pages and consequently both standards and technologies are key competences for mastering it. W3C is considering the definition of an "Open Web Platform" for application development of rich interactive experiences where immense data stores are made accessible on various devices in a pervasive way. In addition, not only data but also objects can be interconnected through internet.

Although HTML5, recognized by industry leaders, is the foundation for this platform, a number of many other technologies contributes to complete the full power of the platform considering data and knoweledge representation, interaction and presentation, and semantic sharing.

In particular, ISIN has strong theoretical and practical competences proven in applied research projects including, but not limited to, the following:

Internet technologies and standards

  • HTML5 and related technologies
  • Web data formats: HTML, HTML5, XML technologies, JSON
  • JavaScript
  • Responsive Web Layout Design: CSS3, LESS, development frameworks
  • Web application development
  • Mobile app development
  • Smart Clients
  • Web Services, interoperability: SOAP, REST, WSDL
  • M2M
  • Web and mobile usability and accessibility
  • Message-oriented networking libraries (ZMQ)

Semantic web

  • Ontology design and management
  • Inferencing
  • Application and prototyping
  • Representation and development standards: RDF, RDFs, OWL, SPARQL
