The recently established Centre for Languages is a new SUPSI research unit that builds on previous work conducted in the field of non-native language education, digital media and technology for teaching and learning purposes.

The lab research focuses on the design and development of didactic tools and methods for supporting non-native language education.
The Centre for Languages has received support from Swiss, European and International funding agencies. The multidisciplinary competences of the team cover different aspects ranging from non-native language teaching practice to human computer interaction.

The objectives of the Centre for Languages are:

  • develop innovative scenarios for supporting non-native language education, also through the use of digital media and technology, in order to increase the motivation of language learners, and to provide them with linguistic competences that will help them in their professional lives.
  • refine a theoretical and methodological framework for the design and evaluation of digital media and technology in non-native language education.
