Laboratorio SUPSI DYNAMAT

Responsabile: Prof. Dr. Ezio Cadoni
The knowledge of the materials behaviour at high strain-rate is of fundamental importance for the design and assessment of structures subjected to impulsive events like impacts or explosions.

The reliability of the analysis by computer codes depends from the accuracy of the constitutive laws of the material (stress-strain curves) in the particular strain-rate regime. DynaMat is a centre specialized in impact on materials and structures both at the numerical simulation and experimental level. DYNAMAT-Lab is an advanced laboratory for mechanical characterization of materials in fast dynamics able to measure accurately the stress-strain curves of materials in tension, compression and shear in a large range of strain-rates (from 10-6 to 104s-1).

DYNAMAT acts as a point of reference for the industry and research centres of the region as key-player support in the design, development and optimization of production processes.
The laboratory and the centre start their full activity aiming to:

  • develop the research on materials and on structures subject to dynamic-impulsive loads;
  • favour the technological transfer;
  • spread an integrated approach facing design-testing to improve safety and quality of products.
