The modular Bachelor’s program for Physiotherapy is designed to combine basic scientific and cultural education with the specific professional competences and skills; there are four areas of practical training offered.
The ultimate objective of this degree course is to train professional physiotherapists able to deliver a substantial contribution toward the prevention and solving of health problems.

By the end of their training, physiotherapy graduates should therefore be able to demonstrate:

• that they are competent in applying and developing the principles, methods and techniques used in physiotherapy;
• that they can readily integrate research data into a clinical situation;
• that they are well versed in evidence-based practice;
• that they are skilled in applying and developing problem-solving methods
  (autonomously or in a team);
• that they can propose solutions and select appropriate therapeutic measures;
• that they can apply and develop responsible awareness, both on an individual, as well as on a social basis;
• that they can adopt a global and interdisciplinary way of thinking and acting, incorporating a communication-oriented approach with diverse partners.

The bachelor degree course in Physiotherapy has admission restriction based on the grade point average achieved in the aptitude test.
As a rule, this test will take place in May.

To be eligible to the full-time bachelor course, applicants must detain one of the following admission’s requirements:

• a Swiss federal vocational school qualification (health and social affairs)
• a vocational baccalaureate diploma (health and social affairs)
• a vocational diploma (technical diploma, school of arts or business school leaving certificate)
• a higher education entrance qualification (A-levels or equivalent)

For applicants without specialities (health and social affairs), it is mandatory to attend the foundation modules.
Furthermore, final admission requires the applicant to provide evidence of having done a clinical placement.

Physiotherapy is a health profession designed to promote, preserve and/or cure basic motor abilities and quality of movement of a person or a group of people of all ages. The measures relate to people whose basic motor abilities, breathing or cardiovascular system is impaired, be it caused by medical conditions, congenital malformations, accidents or ageing processes.
Physiotherapists work jointly with health professionals to conceive and perform projects for single persons or groups of people; physiotherapy meaning not solely a therapeutic measure, but also a resource of prevention.
Physiotherapists adopt different methods of treatment and techniques, from pure manual approaches through to different physiotherapeutic treatments and functional rehabilitation practices.
The evaluation of the findings is an integral part of the therapeutic process and aims at both
rehabilitation of the patient’s functional motor abilities and at her/his social and professional reintegration.
Physiotherapists, in conjunction with other health professionals, define and carry out suitable therapeutic measures.
Physiotherapists usually work in nursing or rehabilitation institutions or go into business for themselves and have their own treatment centre or do home visits.
