What is EIT-Manufacturing?

EIT Manufacturing is an Innovation Community within the European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT) – that connects the leading manufacturing actors in Europe. Fueled by a strong interdisciplinary and trusted community, we will add unique value to European products, processes, services – and inspire the creation of globally competitive and sustainable manufacturing.

Students move from their entry university at the end of the first year to their exit university in a different country for the second year. The language of instruction throughout is English.

Graduates of the EIT-M programme are awarded two Master degrees - one from each university. An EIT Label certificate is also conferred to participants who have followed one of the 4 tracks (with international mobility), taken part in the Innovation & Entrepreneurship courses (in particular the summer school) and successfully completed an internship in industry.
The EIT-M programme, which will welcome its first intake of students in September 2021, will be one of the main assets of the EIT Manufacturing innovation communities, spreading innovation and creating new business in the manufacturing ecosystem.

The EITM master combines technical competence with skills on Innovation and entrepreneurship adopting a learning-by-doing approach.
Students follow one of four programmes (with international mobility):

  1. People and Robots for Sustainable Work
  2. Additive Manufacturing for Full Flexibility
  3. Zero Defect Manufacture for a Circular Economy
  4. Platforms for digitalized value Networks
  5. Data Science and AI for Competitive Manufacturing

Tracks at the Department of Innovative Technologies at SUPSI

Track 1: People and Robots for Sustainable Work Track
People and Robots for Sustainable Work (PR) is a program combining manufacturing science, robotic system physics and control system automation, including the design of customized manufacturing processes and production management.

Track 2: Additive Manufacturing for Full Flexibility Track
Additive Manufacturing for Full Flexibility (AM) is a combination of studying manufacturing science including physics of additive manufacturing processes, mechanical design including exploiting the design freedoms enabled for more customized products and services, and production management including the flexibility enabled for smaller lot production.

Track 4: Platforms for digitalized value Networks Track
Platforms for digitalized value Networks is a combination of studying manufacturing sciences including the usage and adoption of advanced digital solutions and platforms.

Track 5: Data Science and AI for Competitive Manufacturing
Data Science and AI for competitive manufacturing is a combination of manufacturing science and Information and communication technology including the usage and adoption of advanced digital solutions and platforms. Relevant fields include modelling and simulation, virtual prototyping, service and system engineering, machine learning and data mining.

What diploma can participants receive?

  • 2 Master degrees (issued by the partner institutions)
  • an EIT Label Certificate

For each programme, different study paths are offered including one entry university and one exit university among to the ones belonging to the master school. At the end of the course, students receive two Master's degrees (one per each of the two universities in the study path) and an EIT label certificate. Students enrolled in SUPSI get the Master of Science in Engineering degree (90 ECTS) from SUPSI and another degree of 120 ECTS from the other university involved in the selected study path.

What are the requirements for the EIT Label Certificate?

  • Follow one of the 5 tracks (with international mobility)
  • Take part in the Innovation & Entrepreneurship courses (in particular the summer school)
  • Succesfully complete an internship in industry
