Conservation and Restoration
SUPSI Image Focus
Scientific advice and diagnostics in conservation and restoration projects. The expertise in the field enables us to address the practical and scientific problems that arise during the design, implementation and monitoring of conservation and restoration projects.
The Conservation and Restoration sector carries out diagnostic investigations on historical materials and structures, identifying their stratifications, characteristics and state of preservation, ongoing deterioration phenomena and the environmental and anthropic factors that have caused them.
It provides technical and scientific advice to support professionals in the sector both during the design and implementation of interventions on the built heritage and cultural assets, checks the results of operations carried out, and conducts monitoring to ensure continuous preventive and planned conservation measures.
The working group specialises in the analysis of wall paintings, stone materials and built structures. Collaboration with the SUP schools and institutes that, together with SUPSI, form the Swiss Conservation Restoration Campus makes it possible to make use of each other's expertise and provide a service in the various fields of intervention.
