SUPSI Image Focus
The Workshop in Cooperation takes place in Ethiopia, lasts for two weeks, and in 2024 involved 14 students from three different degree programs. This edition focused on the Nubian vault and its realization through the concept of appropriate technology.
The Workshop WoCo 2024 centers around constructing a Nubian vault, a structure that can be built without formwork or load-bearing elements. The project was developed by 14 students from SUPSI, representing the fields of Architecture, Visual Communication, and Interior Architecture. They collaborated with 14 Ethiopian students from the faculties of Architecture and Engineering.
The construction, measuring 3.5 x 4.5 meters, includes a concrete base and a vault made of brick. The vault was built on a plot of land at Hawassa University, designated as an exhibition site for all future WoCo projects, showcasing sustainable and context-appropriate designs to the student community.
