Lara works at the SUPSI Institutional Communication Service. In 2022, she spent a week between Valencia and Madrid at two different universities, discovering good practices and communication strategies.
Can you briefly describe your mobility experience?
My mobility in Spain was undoubtedly an unforgettable experience. In one week, I was able to visit two universities: during the first three days I was a guest at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) and, during the last two, at the Universidad CEU San Pablo in Madrid. I was able to see first-hand how their communication services are organised, find best practices and enrich my personal and professional knowledge.
Thanks to the warm welcome I received, I felt part of the team and in Valencia I was also able to participate in the presentation of a research project carried out during the popular festival called 'Fallas' held in the city at that time.
Why did you choose to split your mobility week between two different universities?
The two institutions I visited are very different. Visiting them both allowed me in general to gain a broader and more complete view of the Spanish academic world and culture and, specifically, to confront different approaches to communication in universities.
Was it complicated from an organisational point of view?
Mobility was excellently coordinated by SUPSI's International Office. Right from the start, I received excellent assistance and was provided with all the necessary means to make my mobility experience as comfortable as possible. The internal transfer also worked perfectly. After the three days in Valencia, I took a train to Madrid where I spent the last two days.
Which words would you choose to describe this experience?
Innovation, culture and learning.
During my mobility, I was able to exchange with colleagues, enriching my knowledge and skills in the field. Furthermore, I had the opportunity to experience Spanish culture, which made my learning experience even more engaging.
How did you spend your spare time?
In my free time I had the opportunity to visit the main attractions in Valencia and Madrid and to taste all the traditional Spanish dishes.
