Emanuele is a Master of Science in Engineering student with a profile in Business Engineering. During his academic journey he took part in the Startup Garage, a space dedicated to the development of entrepreneurial ideas, and had the opportunity to visit China and Taiwan as part of the "Asia Module."
How did you get to know SUPSI?
I discovered SUPSI during my senior year of high school through the recommendation of a former student. At the time I did not know such an interesting reality existed, but after reading up on it and attending the open-day, I realized it would be ideal for me.
How would you describe your course of study?
I would describe my path as professionalizing, challenging and stimulating.
Professionalizing in that it is giving me an important body of knowledge that can be used in the immediate future outside of academia, such as in some projects with companies and in the development of my own startup. Challenging because it always involves new challenge, and ultimately, stimulating because it offers many opportunities, such as traveling to China in the summer, studying in different Swiss cities, and working side by side.
What is the advantage of an education at the Department of Innovative Technologies (DTI)?
Studying at DTI means experiencing a dynamic place that is in constant contact with the world of research and work. All professors and lecturers have backgrounds to take cues from, and every activity organized on campus offers valuable networking opportunities. Actively attending the East Campus and the Department opens many doors for the future.
What are your goals for the future?
After my studies I sincerely hope to pursue my startup idea, which I work on within the Startup Garage or, alternatively, to pursue a career in business consulting, perhaps first as an employee and then on my own.
Is there a particularly significant experience you would like to tell about?
The most significant experience was undoubtedly the trip to Asia as part of the "Asia module" during the master's program. Thanks to this module I had the opportunity to live in two weeks a unique experience between Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Taipei, incredible places in every respect. The Asia module not only allows you to admire Chinese and Taiwanese manufacturing up close, but also to have a real experience discovering these cultures at the industrial, technological, culinary, religious and traditional levels. In short, a unique opportunity both at the curriculum level, for all the knowledge gained during the company visits, and at the interpersonal growth level for all the extra activities experienced with the group of classmates and faculty.
