What led you to choose the course of study in Mechanical Engineering?
I chose to study engineering because I like challenges and because I am a curious girl who always wants to learn. I chose mechanical engineering because it is one of the branches where you can physically see the end result of project work and because it is a cross-cutting profession that covers many different fields.
In your opinion, does the lack of role models of female engineers influence women's career choices?
In my case, I have never given too much importance to role models around me, other than my family, my parents. In fact, the latter represents the mainstay that supported me in making important choices, that taught me to believe in myself, in my abilities and in achieving goals through commitment and dedication.
In the world of work, is there awareness of the shortage of women in the technical sector and what are the consequences of this?
I believe that in recent years this issue has become increasingly important and that a mixed working environment promotes productivity as it is easier to deal with issues from multiple perspectives. In order to meet the needs of society, it seems unwise not to actively include half of the population. Therefore, the importance of involving women and making them understand the relevance of the social role they play is crucial.
What advice would you give to a girl who wants to take the same career path as you?
My advice is to follow one's ambitions without being intimidated by the difficulties along the way, because those are there for everyone. The engineering study course is certainly intense, but it can pay off once you have achieved your goals.
