The project

Home automation (Demotic) at the service of the elderly and disabled.

The Home Automation unit of the Mechatronics Systems Lab, the Semantics and Multimedia Systems Lab from the Department of Innovative Technologies (DTI) in collaboration with the Health Department (DSAN), the Società Ticinese per l’assistenza dei Ciechi (STAC), the Emergency Ambulance Service (144), and the Servizio Cure Domicilio del Luganese (SCUDO) have been part
of the IDA and GRANNO projects.

IDA and GRANNO projects have developed new technologies for elderly and disabled to ensure the autonomy for the stay at their own homes as long as possible. Both projects seek to ensure the highest degree of autonomy and security

In addition to the Technological, Social and Health research done, a business model was also studied to find which is the most suited business model for the success of the development of product and service.

Within the project was developed a domotic framework that will be available Open Source and free, creating a developers community to improve the system operation. We are convinced that this is the way to success with complex systems, all in favour to elderly and disabled people.
