Cheap and Efficient Application of reliabe Ground Source Heat exchangers and PumpS


Abstract The goal is to reduce the total cost of ownership and increase the safety of low enthalpy geothermal systems through improved drilling technologies combined with an holistic approach for optimum and safe selection and implementation of such systems across the different underground and climate conditions. The proposal will focus on one hand on the development of more efficient and safe shallow geothermal systems and the reduction of the installation costs to increase deployment of this technology. The proposal is focuse on the improvement of an innovative vertical borehole installation technology of coaxial steel heat exchangers and on the development of a novel Ground Source Heat Exchanger of very high efficiency with a new drilling methodology. Also improvements to the more mature and now already conventional vertical drilling methodology will be pursued through drilling machine and material developments. On the other hand, the proposal will develop a decision support tool ( DSS ) and other design tools covering the geological aspects, feasibility and economic evaluations based on different plant set-up options, selection, design, installation, commissioning and operation
