TOBP - Transcultural Open Badges Platform

Abstract TOBP project connects strategic partners in setting up new standards for skill recognition for migrants in the field of Transcultural Early Life Family Care (TELFC). TOBP’s aims are to create an open badge platform a) to enable the validation of foreign and informal qualifications and b) to provide education and training in the context of the newly developed job profile “transition mentor”. It thereby addresses the skill gaps and shortages of qualified professionals in TELFC. NEED: SKILL RECOGNITION OF MIGRANTS. Studies suggest that labor market participation improves with the length of time people reside in the host country and with the increase in their education levels. Migrants are unable to secure jobs because their knowledge, skills and competences are not validated in their host countries. Non-recognition of foreign qualifications and prior learning is the central migration issue of the new century in all post-industrial societies (UN 2016). PURPOSE: SUCCESSFUL TRANSITION MENTORING. TOBP addresses two challenges: on the one hand, TELFC is suffering from skills and citizenship-shortages; and on the other hand, there is an underutilization of migrant skills.
