Abstract This project, not being a full research project but a one year Opportunity grant, aims at establishing a solid research basis to start grouping partners and stakeholders to work and reflect around the topic. The scientific question originating the project is: how are the Tokyo 2020 Olympics changing the Tokyo neighborhood dynamics and then urban metropolitan region? This question leans on a relation between mega events and urban transformations, to appropriately tackle the aspects of this relation, needs to be framed in a comparative transnational and intra-Japanese perspectives.
