Formazione Ivan Furlan received his B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Applied Sciences of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI) in 2000 and the M.Sc. in Mechatronics from the Politecnico di Torino in 2009 with grade 110/110. He received the CAS in didactics and the "Qualifica SUPSI in Didattica"in 2014.

Esperienze professionali Lead researcher at SUPSI from 2000 to 2012 at the laboratory of mechatronics systems. Visiting researcher from 2009 to 2010 at the Distributed Decision Environments Laboratory at the University of Miami (UM). Lecturer at SUPSI from 2010 in the areas of "Control system design" and "System Modeling". From 2013 to 2014 he worked for GE and from 2014 for ABB, in Quartino, Switzerland, where he carries out research and development of innovative products in the field of Uninterruptible Power supply System (UPS). Main responsible for the introduction of novel control alg. for digital UPSs.

Competenze Deep knowledges in: control system theory, applied mathematics and classical physics, in combination with very strong simulation and implementation skills. 20+ year of expertise in: - Design and development of mechatronics systems. - Modeling, identification and control of dynamic systems, with focus on: Precise positioning control system and power electronic systems. - Analysis and control of complex processes, such as: Electric Discharge Machining (EDM) process and Extrusion process. - Embedded systems.

Riconoscimenti Sep 2020 : Smart Power Award and GPG Power Protection Award, ABB, Zürich June 2010 : Best paper award won at The 12th Mechatronics Forum Biennial International Conference, Zürich June 1996 : Award "Fondazione Luigi Brentani", best electrical plant designer of Southern Switzerland
