Dati anagrafici Filippo Schenker nasce a Basilea il 23.5.1983, cresce a Contone e dopo il periodo di formazione oltralpe si trasferisce prima a Cureglia poi a Giubiasco.

Formazione Nel 2008 conclude gli studi universitari al Dipartimento Scienze della Terra del Politecnico federale di Zurigo (ETHZ) con un master in petrologia metamorfica e geologia strutturale. Durante il Bachelor, nel 2006, trascorre un semestre di studi presso la facoltà di scienza dell'Università di Granada in Spagna. Nel 2013 consegue il dottorato sempre all'ETHZ in geologia strutturale e tettonica con uno studio sugli aspetti meccanici e termici di duomi migmatitici estensionali in orogenesi compressive.

Esperienze professionali Nel 2011 lavora presso il laboratorio di geocronologia ad Argon alla Research School of Earth Sciences dell'Università di Canberra (Australian National University). Dal 2014 al 2015 è ricercatore postdoc all'Università di Losanna. Nello stesso periodo coordina la Scuola di Dottorato "Programme doctoral en Sciences des Minéraux" della Svizzera romanda. Dal 2015 è ricercatore presso la SUPSI. Dal 2016 al 2022 copre la carica di editore associato del Bollettino della Società ticinese di scienze naturali.

Competenze Geologo di terreno con solida formazione e conoscenze in geologia strutturale, petrologia metamorfica, geocronologia e in modelli numerici. Si interessa allo studio di processi geologici dalla scala micrometrica a quella chilometrica integrando cartografia di terreno con tecniche analitiche e numeriche.
