  • International competition, global value chains and technological innovations are increasingly forcing companies to tackle enormous challenges. There is therefore a need for specialists with a generalist profile, who can combine technical and financial expertise.
    This Bachelor programme in Industrial Engineering, conducted in parallel with professional working activity, trains students to occupy managerial and leadership positions at the intersection between technology and business management. Great importance is attached to the aspect of interdisciplinarity, and to maintaining constant focus on the needs of the professional world.


The BSc in Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen provides a sound generalist foundation for finding innovative solutions to complex technical and economic problems. Students can acquire specialist scientific knowledge based on engineering sciences and technology, and integrate their competence profiles with the interdisciplinary aspects of business management. The practice-oriented approach adopted during the study programme will allow them to combine theory with professional practice, satisfying a fundamental criterion of today’s employment market.
In the post-graduate course, or during specialisation studies, they will be able to perfect their General Management understanding or, in accordance with their individual requirements, select one of the two specialist areas shown below:
- Production Management.
- Strategic Resource Management.

  • Graduates possess competences that are appropriate for working in the technology and engineering science sectors (mathematics, natural sciences, materials sciences, construction, and computer science).
  • They understand the links between the technical and commercial operational areas of businesses, and can identify the interactions between these areas and the mechanisms involved.
  • They possess skills in the fields of business administration, accounting, law, strategic management and English.
  • They have a knowledge of empirical research methods, the main features of scientific work and the most significant statistical evaluation methods.

Admission requirements

Applicants possessing the following qualifications are admitted to the Bachelor programme:
- vocational high school leaving examination;
- high school leaving examination with one year of work experience*;
- diploma from a vocational high school (HF)*: Complementary examination certificate (Passerella) granting access to the 3rd or 5th semesters.
Direct admission to the programme may be granted to applicants who have completed tertiary-level studies* (federal vocational qualification, Federal Diploma, or who are aged more than 25 and who have significant training and work experience; applicants belonging to this category must sit an admission examination.
In order to prepare properly for the admission examination, applicants are advised to complete the Admission Examination Preparation Course.

*In the same field of study or in a related field of study (subject to approval).

Career prospects

This degree programme qualifies graduates to take on roles of responsibility at the middle to senior management level in industrial and services companies operating in all sectors. A range of further career options are possible, depending on the major selected.
