2017 Edition
The first Southern Switzerland Innovation Forum, organised by the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI) was held on 2 November 2017, at the Lugano Palazzo Congressi.

Aware of the importance of innovation as regards economic and social development, and cognizant of its institutional role, in the year marking its 20th Anniversary SUPSI decided to organise the first edition of an international forum dedicated wholly to this topic. An opportunity for the political, economic and scientific spheres to compare their ideas and thoughts about innovation, analysed from three different perspectives: European, Federal and Cantonal.

The three sessions focussed on considering the level of innovation capacity in our region, and the discussion was stimulated by the participation of a number of distinguished guests, including Johann N. Schneider-Ammann, Federal Councillor, Robert-Jan Smits, Director General of DG Research and Innovation at the European Commission, Christian Vitta, Canton Ticino State Councillor, and Marco Borradori, Mayor of Lugano.

The event was conducted in English and was moderated by Charlotte Geerdink, European Advisor for Innovation at Swisscore, and by Diego Gilardoni, International speaker and consultant.
