Postdoc Researcher in the area of the Computational Materials Science

The University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI) has opened a position at the Department of Innovative Technologies (DTI) located in the new USI-SUPSI Campus in Lugano-Viganello (Campus Est), in particular at Institute for Mechanical Engineering and Materials Technology (MEMTi), a full time (100%) position for a Postdoc Researcher in the area of the Computational Materials Science. Contract start April 2022 or date to be agreed.


  • Multiscale molecular modeling of complex molecular systems and self-assembling materials.
  • Classical and advanced molecular simulations.
  • Advanced computational and machine learning approaches for the simulation and modeling of molecular systems.



  • Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or in disciplines related to the research program.
  • Relevant publications in the field of multiscale molecular modeling and simulations (classical and advanced).
  • Solid background and experience in molecular modeling and simulation.


  • Experience in the use of most common molecular simulation software (e.g.: Gromacs, Amber, CP2K, quantum espresso, gaussian, lammps, plumed, etc.).
  • Experience in coarse-graining techniques.
  • Experience in enhanced sampling simulation approaches (e.g.: metadynamics).
  • Experience in advanced computational methods (e.g.:
  • ^’ dimensionality reduction, pattern recognition, supervised and unsupervised learning, neural networks, genetic algorithms, etc.).
  • Good programming skills.
  • Ability to work in team as well as independently.
  • Good communication skills and good attitude to the presentation of scientific results and writing of scientific papers.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
