Stanford University has recently compiled a list of the top 2 per cent of the most-cited scientists in various disciplines taken together, namely the world’s best scientists in general. Professors and researchers Luca Maria Gambardella, Jürgen Schmidhuber and Marco Zaffalon feature in the ranking.

The report was prepared by a team of experts led by Stanford University professor John P.A. Ioannidis.

The database was created to provide updated analyses and a publicly available database of top scientists. Updated databases and code are freely available in Mendeley (https://dx.doi.org/10.17632/btchxktzyw).

This achievement represents a further confirmation of the high quality scientific activity of IDSIA, which focuses on developing innovative ideas and algorithms and transferring them into real world applications, in partnership with the industry.
