From 21 to 22 November, the annual meeting on higher education organised by Movetia in collaboration with the International Office of SUPSI took place in Lugano. The meeting was attended by the heads and employees of the International Relations Offices, the services for international relations, university teachers and staff, representatives of the international networks, cantonal higher education representatives and other participants active in the field of educational collaboration.

On the occasion of his first official visit to South America, Federal Councillor Ignazio Cassis gave a speech in the Cathedral of San Josè in Uruguay, decorated with works by the Ticino artist Martino Perlasca. In his speech, the head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs recalled the Swiss efforts to rediscover the works of the Ticino artist in two historic buildings in Montevideo, the Club Uruguay and the Teatro Sala Verdi. It is in this theatre that Sara Paganoni and Martina Candiani, students of the SUPSI Degree Course in Conservation and Restoration, Department of Environment, Construction and Design, are participating in the work of restoration of the wall paintings.

This year the Sino-Swiss academic collaboration between the Department for Environment, Constructions and Design, The Institute for Applied Sustainability to the Built Environment, the SUPSI Degree Course in Architecture and the College of Civil Engineering and Architecture at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou (China) continues. A two-part workshop will take place from 15 April to exchange knowledge on sustainable construction and architecture.

The Ministry of Science and Technology of China has very positively evaluated the results of the international cooperation project conducted by the East China University of Technology (ECUT) and SUPSI - DTI, which has seen the two institutions engaged over the past 3 years in research and development of activities related to mass spectrometry.

Alexander Gomez Villa, is a Colombian student who studied in Engineering in SUPSI, thanks to the program of the Reteca Foundation. The aim of this foundation is to train young engineers from South America, so that the skills acquired can be useful when returning to their country of origin. Graduated in June 2018, Alexander had the opportunity through the Euraxess portal, dedicated to researchers, to seek opportunities for open positions as Phd at several European universities, and has be selected for a position at the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, Spain.
