EURAXESS - Researchers in Motion is a unique pan-European initiative delivering information and support services to professional researchers. Backed by the European Union and its Member States, it supports researcher mobility and career development, while enhancing scientific collaboration between Europe and the world.
SUPSI is also part of the network with a Welcome Center at the International Office.

Euraxess

swissuniversities has been tasked by the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) with acting as the Swiss bridgehead organisation for the Euraxess initiative of the European Commission and for the coordination of Euraxess activities in Switzerland.

In March 2017 SUPSI signed the European Commission adopted a European Charter for Researchers and a Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers (Charter & Code), thus becoming part of the Euraxess network and committing itself accordingly to offer support to researchers who want to work in SUPSI as well as to our researchers looking for job opportunities.

EURAXESS promotes the career of researchers and aims to:

  • Facilitate their career
  • Support their training
  • Creating attractive career opportunities and working conditions

It also commits itself to improving the working conditions and career prospects of researchers.

What does Euraxess offer in concrete terms?

Euraxess offers researchers a wide range of information services and services. In particular, it provides researchers with information and support on key topics such as mobility and professional planning and allows access to European databases listing research vacancies and funding opportunities, offering help in finding cooperation partners and including many other useful information and support.

The careers of researchers is supported with four different instruments:

  • Euraxess Jobs is a Europe-wide job database for researchers who are looking for a position at a university, at a research institute or in the private sector. They can also post their CV in the database for interested employers. There is no charge to employers to post jobs, and doing so is quick and easy.
  • Euraxess Services offers information concerning mobility on the national website as well as personal advice at the service centres of institutions of higher education. In Switzerland, these service centres are located at ten university campuses.
  • Euraxess Rights ensures fair employment conditions and good development opportunities for researchers. Universities and research institutions signal their commitment to modern human resources management by signing the charter for researchers and the code of conduct for hiring researchers (charter and code). In Switzerland, some 30 institutions have signed the charter and code. Three institutions have received the «HR Excellence in Research Award».
  • Euraxess Links maintains connections with researchers around the world in order to promote Europe as an innovative research location.

Euraxess in SUPSI

It was created by the collaboration of various services such as Human Resources, Research Service and Gender & Diversity, and is coordinated by the International Office, which also acts as an entry gate through the Welcome Center.

Euraxess Switzerland

The Euraxess Switzerland portal provides information and assistance to researchers - through this portal and with the support of our Euraxess national centers.

This portal contains practical information on professional and daily life as well as information on job and financing opportunities. The Euraxess centers help researchers and their family to plan and organize their transfer to a foreign country, providing assistance in all matters related to mobility.
