SUPSI students
SUPSI encourages the dimension of exchange and mobility outside its regional borders: within the different degree courses, according to the plan and the specific offers of the department affiliation, the student has the opportunity to perform various activities outside Ticino (national mobility), in the European context as well as in an international context.
The possibilities are numerous: to live an experience outside of their own university, whether it be a mobility for study, practice, a training module abroad, a workshop, a study trip or a period of post-diploma internship, it is definitely an enriching opportunity from a formative and personal point of view, an opportunity not to be missed!
The activities outside the classrooms envisaged during the degree course (collaborative internships and internships in Switzerland, as provided by the programme, workshop, travel and study modules) are organised by the course framework and do not involve a notice of open competition, while for others (mobility for study in another Swiss university, abroad, internships in Europe) a candidacy is required.
During the year, meetings are organised within the departments to which all the students concerned are invited and all the relevant information is presented. In addition, within the study areas there is a mobility coordinator who regularly contacts students and is available for advice.

To be able to see the operation of another Swiss university, to learn new things and take advantage of the richness and cultural and linguistic diversity of the country are the benefits of a period of mobility outside Ticino.

Since 2014 student mobility registered with Swiss universities and European universities recognised as a "Programme country" within the Erasmus+ programme with the Erasmus+ charter is held under the umbrella of the Swiss-European Mobility Programme (SEMP).
Since 2022, the national agency Movetia also finances worldwide mobility (outside Europe) for study or internship purposes.

SUPSI collaborates with several non-European universities with which it has been possible to carry out a mobility study period for students of our university.

Internship experiences in developing countries are mobility projects that play a role of great importance in several departments, which undertake to invest in the international training of their students. Here some examples.

IAESTE (International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience) is an organization for the exchange of students at higher education institutions wishing to obtain technical experience abroad.

Even after studies, it is possible to perform an internship abroad! SUPSI collaborates with Lingue e stage all'estero (LSE) to support its students during the course of a postgraduate internship in Europe (SEMP programme). Besides SEMP, there are also other possibilities for postgraduate mobility.

Within the departments there are various curricular activities outside the regional borders. These are workshops, study trips and internships abroad.
In addition, the Student life service and the SUPSIalumni Association offer information on professional activities abroad.

Summer schools or summer academies are an increasingly popular kind of education that is offered by universities and other institutes of higher education during the summer break. The variety of what is offered by summer schools in Europe or abroad is huge.
