IAESTE Traineeships
IAESTE Traineeships
IAESTE (International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience) is an organization for the exchange of students at higher education institutions wishing to obtain technical experience abroad.

The aim of IAESTE is:

  • to provide science & engineering students with training experience abroad that is relevant to their studies
  • to be a source of cultural enrichment for trainees and their host employers

Every year, in January, IAESTE Switzerland receives around 150 traineeship offers in several countries around the world exclusively reserved for Swiss students. Beginning of February is therefore the recommended time to view offers and sign up for one of the offered traineeships. In the following months it is still possible to look for traineeship offers, but opportunities may decrease as open to all IAESTE members.

Student application

In addition, for each student who has received a traineeship, SUPSI pays an additional amount to IAESTE Switzerland for student placement in the Swiss or foreign company.

In order to take advantage of a traineeship, the student is obliged to enroll in IAESTE Switzerland. The cost is CHF50 (non-refundable). Additionally, the student must pay a participation fee of CHF500. This amount is payable only after pre-selection.
If the student, for serious cases (illness, ...), is unable to do the traineeship, the entire amount of CHF500 is returned. While, if the student refuses to take the traineeship for non-serious reasons, the amount will not be refunded.
