Insurance aspects
The Federal law on health insurance (LAMal) provides for the general insurance obligation of medical care throughout the country. Anyone who resides in Switzerland is obliged to insure themselves for medical and health care within three months of entering Switzerland.

Here is an overview of the main insurance required and offered in Switzerland. This list is not exhaustive and is for information purposes only: each case has to be verified directly by the student with the competent office in Switzerland and abroad.

Civil Liability Insurance

Private liability insurance is optional, but highly recommended. The RC protects the insured person who causes damage to third parties and is obliged to compensate, for example, during the practice of a sport, as an animal owner or as a tenant.
