The “School Building Analysis” project (Analisi degli edifici scolastici - AES) was developed by the SUPSI Department of environment, construction and design, in collaboration with the Canton Ticino Logistics Department of the Ministry for Economy & Finance (DFE).

Extremely high management and maintenance costs, together with limited financial resources and increased environmental sensitivity, have created the need to move toward new management forms that can identify decay phenomena promptly, and decide where and how much to intervene.

The aim is to determine the “maintenance” problem in Ticino for public buildings, and to implement strategies for facilitating future investment estimates. The outcome is a comprehensive picture of the conservation conditions of Ticino schools, in order to launch a new scheduled maintenance programme.
