Swiss2Grid: energy efficiency and mobility, the challenge for the next few years

The Swiss2Grid pilot project was officially presented on 20 September 2010, in Mendrisio, and is scheduled to run for three years, involving a number of multi-disciplinary partners, all coordinated by the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland, through the experience acquired and the field studies conducted by the Institute for Applied Sustainability to the Built Environment (ISAAC).
Financed by the Federal Energy Office (UFE), SwissElectric-Research (SER) and by other industrial partners, the project aims to finetune an innovative “smart grid” system that can be used to achieve intelligent and decentralised grid management, based on control systems that can operate on each single hub, and governed by a slim-line infrastructure that makes the system less complex.
