Field fluorimeter

The Institute of Earth Sciences obtained 2 GGUN-FL Fluormeter for tracking tests. The two different models were designed to be used in water surface and wells; they are also able to detect the presence of uranine, Sulforodamine B and turbidity of the water. The threshold of the instruments survey in ideal conditions is of 2*10-11 g/ml.


For the realization of Very Low Frequency surveys (VLF) the Earth Sciences Institute uses a tool for measuring ABEM WADI of the electromagnetic field, generated by secondary structures buried in high inclination.


Produced by Geonics LTD, the EM 38DLM is used for the cartography of the apparent conductivity of soils on the surface through the generation of an electromagnetic field. In addition to many agricultural applications, it is used frequently in archaeological fields.


To realize tests in order to determine the speed of infiltration of granular materials, the infiltrometer consists of two cylinders made of metal and equipped with flow regulators to control the behavior of the probes.

Vertical eletric survey

Produced by Terratest, 1 D VES allows you to investigate on the geological composition of the underground through the measurement of the apparent conductivity, allows also estimating the depth of the saturated zone and geological contacts. With appropriate configurations you can reach investigation depths of several hundred meters.

Pressure probes

The Institute of Earth Sciences has at its disposal several pressure sensors to measure the water level in piezometers and in surface waters. The sensors are used for the monitoring of discharges in weirs and piezometric quotes. These sensors are also able to measure the temperature.

Geophone 3D surface

To quickly asses the depth of a bedrock and define a soil stratigraphy based on spectral analysis of surface waves, the Institute obtained a Geophone USB 3D model "Gemini-2", PASI Company Ltd.
