Medical Devices

Head: Dr. Igor Stefanini

Integrating scientific and technological advances in biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, informatics, and medicine, increases the ability to manipulate matter at the molecular level. That is fundamental for developing diagnostic, analytic, therapeutic, and medical instrumentation.

The Medical Devices research area is focused on the development of devices and systems with different integrative steps. They range from nanotechnologies (nanomaterials, biointerfaces) to microtechnologies (microfluidics, photonics, and sensor technology) and microdevices, leading to the realization of highly integrated systems for the understanding of cellular and molecular biology as well as for diagnosis and support to the therapy, in collaboration with other DTI Institutes.
