Watching war up close produces the lightning-fast experience of what human beings are capable of. Even more radically, it allows us to unmask the references to which we entrust the task of not losing our compass in navigating reality. International humanitarian law, the laws that are supposed to regulate conflicts, the assignment of the good guys to some and the bad guys to others are comforting escape routes for not looking reality in the face: we are capable of anything. The application of legal, ethical and moral criteria to battlefields only generates the illusion that there can be a bearable and watchable war: a war done well. A war that is beautiful. Gianluca Grossi leads the audience to the boundaries of the thinkable and beyond through the ruthless application of doubt, aimed first and foremost at his profession and his history as a reporter. In the extreme lands that are thus revealed, it is possible to raise a barricade of thought capable of curbing the trite narrative of the real.
The evening is organized as part of the International Cooperation Optional Module of the SUPSI Bachelor's Degrees in Nursing, Ergotherapy and Physiotherapy.
