A chi rivolgersi per ideare un percorso di formazione su misura?

A quali condizioni è possibile ottenere un rimborso?

Nel caso in cui il corso venga annullato da parte di SUPSI, gli iscritti saranno avvisati tempestivamente e, se avranno già versato la quota di iscrizione, saranno integralmente rimborsati. Qualora sia il partecipante a rinunciare, quest’ultimo è tenuto al versamento del 50% (per i corsi organizzati dal DEASS (area sanità), il partecipante è tenuto al versamento del 20%) della quota di iscrizione se notifica l’annullamento:

  1. nei 7 giorni che precedono l’inizio del corso, se iscritto alla formazione continua breve (0-9 ECTS)
  2. nei 21 giorni che precedono l’inizio del corso, se iscritto alla formazione Advanced Studies (10-60 ECTS)

In caso di rinunce notificate successivamente ai termini di cui sopra oppure per abbandono della formazione Advanced Studies senza un valido motivo, il partecipante non avrà diritto a nessun rimborso e l’intera quota di iscrizione diverrà esigibile. Sono fatte salve eventuali deroghe previste nei regolamenti di ogni singolo corso, alle quali si fa espressamente richiamo.
Chi fosse impossibilitato a partecipare può proporre un’altra persona previa comunicazione a SUPSI e accettazione da parte del responsabile del corso. In caso di rinuncia o di abbandono del corso per malattia o infortunio del partecipante, la fattura inerente alla quota di iscrizione potrà essere annullata, a condizione che sia presentato un certificato medico.

Are tuition fees tax-deductible?

All Continuing Education courses are tax deductible. ​​​​​​​ 

Can I get credits from other continuing education courses previously completed at other Swiss universities or institutions?

MAS, EMBA, DAS and CAS have modular structure and allow recognition of credits of the same level and content earned at SUPSI or other Swiss universities. MAS and EMBA benefit from federal recognition and degree protection.

Come sta cambiando la gamma di corsi offerta dalla Formazione continua SUPSI per restare aggiornata?

La Formazione continua SUPSI tiene in considerazione i rapidi cambiamenti che avvengono nel mondo del lavoro e la crescente necessità degli individui di acquisire nuove competenze. L’offerta viene aggiornata costantemente per riuscire a proporre ai professionisti una Formazione continua trasformativa, che permetta loro di essere inclusi e integrati appieno nell’economia, nella società e nella cultura.

Cosa si intende per formazione continua breve?

Sono formazioni di breve durata che rispondono a esigenze puntuali di perfezionamento professionale. In alcuni casi è possibile conseguire fino a 9 crediti ECTS, riconosciuti in percorsi di Advanced Studies. La formazione continua breve si divide in micro-certificati, che rilasciano dai 4 ai 9 crediti ECTS, e altri corsi di breve durata, comprendenti corsi di aggiornamento, di preparazione agli esami federali di professione, Summer/Winter School, viaggi di studio e corsi esperienziali.

Cosa si intende per formazione su misura?

SUPSI progetta e realizza programmi formativi su misura con il committente sulla base delle sue esigenze reali. 
Questo servizio è orientato a organizzazioni pubbliche e private, con lo scopo di unire le esigenze e gli obiettivi strategici dell’organizzazione allo sviluppo professionale e personale dell’individuo.
I percorsi formativi personalizzati possono essere:

  1. corsi strutturi per collaboratori, responsabili di team, di produzione, di progetto;
  2. consulenze strategiche per quadri superiori;
  3. percorsi di coaching individuali per dirigenti con funzioni manageriali.

È possibile far validare alcuni moduli di un corso di formazione Advanced Studies?

I candidati che hanno acquisito nel quadro di un’altra formazione delle competenze corrispondenti parzialmente o totalmente agli obiettivi di apprendimento previsti dal percorso possono beneficiare di equivalenze e, di conseguenza, di un esonero parziale o totale da alcuni moduli. Onde garantire gli standard didattici, SUPSI può riconoscere di regola un massimo di equivalenze corrispondente al 25 % del totale di crediti ECTS previsti per l’ottenimento del titolo di studio.

How are ECTS credits allocated to SUPSI Continuing Education courses?

Credits are awarded according to the amount of work required to complete the course (25/30 hours of work corresponds to one ECTS credit).

How are SUPSI Continuing Education courses delivered?

Continuing education courses are delivered in different ways: In-presence, distance learning or in a hybrid form that combines the two modes.

How can one quantify the amount of work required to complete a SUPSI Continuing Education course?

Credits are related to the overall commitment required of the participant. One credit corresponds to 25-30 hours of commitment /which may be in the form of participation in the course or in the form of individual study hours.

How can SUPSI Continuing Education transfer scientific knowledge into the working practice of professionals and managers?

The application of scientific and research reference to the practical knowledge and experience brought by course participants enables them to acquire qualified and reflective management practice in their work.

How does SUPSI Continuing Education have a territorial presence?

In SUPSI Continuing Education we promote lifelong learning through territorial proximity to its target audiences. We wish to integrate new forms of presence with those already existing on the campuses and in the virtual environment, in order to promote continuous and widespread training.

How does SUPSI Continuing Education manage to be "at the service of practice"?

Continuing Education considers the participants' experience as an essential part of the learning process, both individual and collective, and of the development of the institution's offer, making the continuous exchange of knowledge that takes place in the classroom one of its strong points.

How is the certification of a SUPSI Continuing Education course carried out?

Certification of skills acquired generally involves the award of study credits. The credits obtained comply with the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS). SUPSI is a university in the sense of Art.2, para. 2, lett b), accredited in the sense of Art.28, para. 1, lett a) of the Federal Law on the Promotion and Coordination of the Swiss Universities Sector (LPSU) of 30 September 2011 and is recognised by the Confederation and Cantons.

How is the principle of sustainability applied to the training offer?

Through the practical and scientific reflections offered in the continuing education courses, participants develop their awareness and responsibility towards the environment, society, culture and the economy. This vision enables participants to integrate into their daily practice the analysis of the impact that their choices, actions and management methods can have on the protection and enhancement of the environment. They thus become aware of their active role in pushing and leading change to build a more equitable and cohesive society based on ethics, trust, sustainable use of resources and respect for the environment.

How is the quality of training provision guaranteed?

The quality of the training offer is ensured by the application of the quality management system for continuing training (SGFC), which ensures the monitoring and continuous improvement of the quality of courses and their management, considering in particular the impact it generates on its stakeholders. This quality management system considers five macro-dimensions, which are strategy, product, course participants, employees and stakeholders.
For each of the five dimensions, the most significant elements and components have been identified on which to apply predefined management policies and to which to look for the smooth functioning of the SUPSI university FC system.

We consistently apply quality standards and procedures throughout the Continuing Training programme management system. We adopt a continuous improvement approach to promote an internal quality culture in which stakeholders and employers also participate.

How is the range of courses offered by SUPSI Continuing Education changing to keep up with the times?

Continuing Education takes into account the rapid changes in the world of work and the increasing need for individuals to learn new skills. The offer is constantly updated in order to provide professionals with transformative continuing education that enables them to be included and fully integrated in the economy, society and culture.

How many times can an examination be repeated?

A participant may repeat the certification of a module a maximum of two times, in accordance with the procedures set out in the study plan and departmental application regulations. The MAS, EMBA dissertations and final papers, as well as the CAS/DAS certification examinations may only be repeated once.

How much does a SUPSI Continuing Education course cost?

The cost of a continuing education course varies depending on the format, duration and subject area. You can find more precise information on this issue by consulting the catalog.

In che modo il datore di lavoro può contribuire al finanziamento di una Formazione continua?

La Formazione continua SUPSI è concepita in modo tale da poter svolgere contemporaneamente un'attività professionale. È possibile chiedere al proprio datore di lavoro di ottenere un finanziamento o uno sgravio di ore per la propria Formazione continua e/o aggiornamento. 

La Formazione continua è incentrata sulla creazione di una situazione win-win sia per le persone partecipanti sia per le loro aziende. Investendo sulla formazione dei propri collaboratori, un’azienda beneficia di competenze aggiornate e trasferibili nel contesto lavorativo.

In what way is SUPSI Continuing Education present in the territory?

Is it possible to complete a CAS and an MAS at a later stage?

Yes, it is possible depending on the course programme. Specific course programmes can be consulted via the course catalogue.

Is it possible to continue working 100% and complete a SUPSI Continuing Education Course of long duration?

The flexible and modular structure of Advanced Studies courses takes into account the needs of the professional public, so that they have the possibility of customising their course so as to be able to reconcile work and study commitments. As a rule, the training is designed so that it can be followed in parallel with a professional activity.

Is it possible to customise a SUPSI Continuing Education course?

Yes, thanks to the technology and constant innovation that characterises Continuing Education we allow participants to customise the mode of use (in-presence, distance or hybrid) and the course (thanks to the modular structure of the training offer). For companies and institutions, the entire programme is 'tailor-made' according to the client's real needs and requirements. We offer participants in continuing education a flexible and agile programme that can be combined in different ways and is geared towards individual profile development.

Is it possible to enroll in long-term SUPSI Continuing Education without a university degree?

Generally no, this is a postgraduate education for which advanced skills in the field are required. However, in some cases, people with equivalent qualifications and confirmed professional experience may be admitted on dossier.

Is it possible to enroll in SUPSI Continuing Education from abroad?

SUPSI Continuing Education programs are open to all professional audiences as long as they meet the admission requirements. With an international perspective, SUPSI Continuing Education offers a choice of distance learning and English-language courses. ​​​​​​​

Is it possible to follow only certain modules of a long continuous training course?

Candidates who have acquired skills in the context of another training course that partially or totally correspond to the learning objectives of the course may benefit from equivalences and, consequently, from partial or total exemption from certain modules. In order to guarantee didactic standards, SUPSI may as a rule recognise a maximum of equivalences corresponding to 25% of the total ECTS envisaged for the award of the qualification.

Is it possible to pay in installments?

In special cases, it is possible to request an installment of the tuition fee; the written request must be submitted to the appropriate secretary by the registration deadline.

Is it possible to re-admit to a course following a drop-out or failure?

Following dropping out of a course, the person concerned may apply to the relevant department for readmission at any time, upon presentation of a written and reasoned request. The departmental management or the relevant body decides on the request and lays down the relevant conditions for readmission. The submission of a readmission application presupposes that the participant has paid any outstanding tuition fees.

Following exclusion from a course due to flunking, a readmission application may be submitted three academic years after exclusion. The readmission application must be submitted to the SUPSI Director General within the enrolment deadline for the Advanced Studies course.

Is it possible to request an extension for the delivery of the MAS, EMBA, DAS or CAS thesis or final paper?

Yes, it is possible. The request must be made in writing and justified to the department or its designated body, which will set the new deadline. In principle, extensions of more than two years are not permitted.

Is it possible to unsubscribe from a course?

Yes, it is possible. Cancellations must be justified and sent in writing to the further education secretariat. The conditions for cancellation are described in our General Terms and Conditions.

Is the degree recognised internationally?

It depends on the degree recognition policies of each country. For MAS and EMBA courses, a Diploma Supplement is issued to facilitate academic and professional recognition of qualifications at international level (SUPSI issues the Diploma Supplement in a bilingual Italian-English version).

Is there an age limit to enroll in SUPSI Continuing Education?

Continuing Education courses are open to people of all ages with professional experience provided they meet the admission requirements.

Qual è la differenza tra un MAS, un EMBA e un MBA?

Il MAS (Master of Advanced Studies) e l'EMBA (Executive Master of Business Administration) sono diplomi di formazione continua rilasciati dalle università di scienze applicate. A differenza del MAS, l'EMBA può essere conseguito solo nel campo dell'economia. Il programma EMBA si basa su uno standard internazionale comune. L'MBA (Master of Business Administration) è un titolo erogato nella formazione universitaria di base.

Qual è la differenza tra una formazione continua e una formazione universitaria di base?

La formazione continua si rivolge a un pubblico avente già una formazione universitaria e un’attività lavorativa già avviata.
Gli studi di formazione continua stabiliscono un legame diretto tra l'apprendimento offerto e la pratica professionale delle persone partecipanti attraverso la scelta di argomenti, input professionali, discussioni, casi di studio e progetti. L'attenzione si concentra sul rafforzamento delle capacità di risoluzione dei problemi, che vengono esercitate in compiti pratici e con riferimento concreto ai temi del settore di lavoro.

What are the criteria for admission?

Those who have completed a level 1 academic pathway such as bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification are eligible for Advanced Studies training.

Certain training pathways may have special admission prerequisites related to specific knowledge and skills related to the field in which the training is directed. Admission requirements are specified within the course sheets. ​​​​​​​ 

What are the effects of SUPSI Continuing Education on the territory?

Investment in university continuing education has a positive impact both on the direct beneficiaries and on society, the economy and the culture of the reference territory as a whole.  In over twenty years, some 100,000 professionals, specialists and managers working in the area have taken continuing education courses at Supsi, updating, enhancing or retraining their skills.

What are the terms of payment of the registration fee?

​​​​​​​If the course is fee-based, the registration fee is due to the bank account of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI) within 30 days from the date of the invoice. From Switzerland, before the course starts, via the policy that will be sent with the enrollment confirmation. From abroad, after confirmation of enrollment, by bank transfer payable to SUPSI at the State Bank of the Canton:

What characterises the link between Continuing Education and Applied Research?

Continuing Education applies knowledge from applied research projects in-house or from other peer institutions and organisations, oriented towards the development and innovation of learning styles and models in continuing education.
It values practical knowledge and scientific knowledge as equals, even if different, and strives to put scientific knowledge and scientific procedures on the one hand, and the deepening of practical knowledge and knowledge on the other, at the service of the practical development of the professionals and managers who are trained by us.

What commitments have been made to sustainability?

Sustainability is one of the guiding principles of SUPSI Continuing Education.  The principles of sustainability (environmental, social, economic and cultural) are promoted in the training programmes, all of which are geared to fostering an approach to management characterised by a culture of responsible leadership, management and participation.

What does attending SUPSI Continuing Education mean in terms of personal investment?

What is the difference between a CAS, a DAS and a MAS?

The difference between certificates of advanced studies lies in their minimum duration and thus in the number of ECTS awarded:

  • Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS), minimum duration of 10 ECTS.
  • Diploma of Advanced Studies (DAS), minimum duration of 30 ECTS;
  • Master of Advanced Studies (MAS), minimum duration of 60 ECTS.

What is the difference between an MAS and a Master's degree?

The Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) is a continuing education course, the Master's degree refers more generally to basic training.

What is the difference between long-term continuing education and short courses?

Long-term Continuing Education is defined as the set of courses that award a minimum of 10 ECTS. Short-term Continuing Education refers to the set of courses that award between 1 and 9 ECTS. As a rule, the offering consists of modules of 12, 16 or 24 hours-lessons. In some cases it can be up to 80-100 lecture-hours.​​​​​​​ 

What is the enrollment deadline?

The enrollment deadline varies depending on the start date of the course. Specific information can be found by consulting the catalog of course offerings.

What is the SUPSI Alumni Association?

It is the organisation that brings together all SUPSI Bachelor, Master, and Master of Advanced Studies degree holders.

What language are the courses held in?

In most cases the courses are held in Italian, the training offer also includes some courses in English. This information can be found in the catalogue.

What role does research play in SUPSI Continuing Education?

Continuing education exploits synergies with research to further qualify participants in continuing education. The experience and wealth of knowledge accumulated thanks to the results of applied research are the guarantors of the quality of university continuing education and its constant scientific and didactic updating.
