Digital radiography implementation in super alloy investment casting
SUPSI Image Focus
The multidisciplinary skills of the management engineer create innovation in a complex process such as 'super alloy casting': the thesis defines and implements a solution that considers the entire product life cycle, pragmatically and excellently applying many operational methods and tools (Group Technology, AHP, NPV, PL etc.).
Digital radiography is an inspection system that has been present in the medical and industrial sectors for several decades. This process, where applicable, brings considerable economic and environmental benefits.
In the aerospace sector, the use of traditional analogue radiography is preferred, as digital radiography cannot fully adhere to the complexity of the production mix. The challenge was to adapt this process to an aerospace company for full industrial-scale use, in order to benefit from the various advantages.
The exercise of the methods learnt in Project Management, Industrial Automation, Operations Research and Analytical Accounting, among others, was indispensable for the proper conduct of this activity.
