Employee Profile

Giacinta Jean was born in Milan on February the 21st 1966.
Architect graduated at the Polytechnic of Milan in 1991. In 1997 Docteur ès sciences EPFL with the research "Crémone. Construction et usage des hôtels particuliers entre le XVIIe et le XIXe siècle". Ph.D. in History of architecture and urban planning at the Polytechnic of Turin in 1999. The thesis "La casa da nobile. Caratteri organizzativi e politiche dell'abitare a Cremona tra la fine del XV secolo e la metà del XVII" was published by Electa in 2000.
She was active as a conservation architect, working both in the private profession and in the university. She was assistant at the University of Genève from 1991 to 1995 and invited lecturer at the Polytechnic of Milan from 1998 to 2004. From 2005 to 2025 she was responsible for the bachelor\'s and master\'s degree in conservation restoration at SUPSI-DACD, coordinating teaching activities, restoration sites and several research projects. Since 2026, she leads interdisciplinary research projects related to the understanding, conservation and appreciation of cultural heritage.
History and archaeology of the built heritage, history of construction techniques, conservation and restoration of historic monuments, history and theory of conservation-restoration, maintenance and contonuous care.
Premio Credit Suisse Award for Best Teaching 2013-2014.
