Employee Profile

From Ticino to Lausanne, Turin, Berlin and back. As an only child, born in the age of interdisciplinarity, narrative, and participation, I have a passion for sharing thoughts, stories, and projects. I love being inbetween various cultures, topics and territories, doing “cultural import-export”.
I studied Philosophy, Psychology and History in the Faculty of Letters at the University of Lausanne. Having graduated in 2000 with a thesis on Narrative Identity, I chose to put the humanities at the service of the disciplines of care, enriching my education with an international II level Master in Medical Humanities (University of Insubria, 2004) as well as a Master in Social and Community Theatre (University of Turin, 2011). I am currently completing a PhD research in Life Sciences in the Faculty of Biology and Medicine at the University of Lausanne.
As a lecturer-researcher at the DEASS, I am co-responsible of the module "Ethics & Identity" and of the Certificate of Advanced Studies "Clinical Ethics & Humanities". I am a counselor for several local institutions. Due to various funding (FNSRS, SAMW, Canton Ticino advanced researchers grant), I was able to conduct research in Switzerland and abroad, and produced more than one hundred conferences/publications. I am the editor-in-chief of the Rivista per le Medical Humanities (published by EOC) and member of the Institute for Social Aesthetics & Mental Health, Sigmund Freud University Vienna.
Through teaching and doing research in the field of care, I have cultivated myself particularly in the perspectives of ethics, of aesthetics (I co-founded the European Society of Aesthetics and Medicine, of which I am vice-President), of narrative medicine (I am part of the inter-university Research Group Iraclia), of Medical Humanities (I am a founding member of the Euro-Mediterranean Network for the humanization of medicine, and member of the section "Philosophy and Humanities in Psychiatry" of the World Psychiatric Association), as well as of the participatory action research.
I am one of the members of the Cantonal ethics Committee and of the Cantonal Committee of publications, in the boards of the Swiss/Swiss-italian Philosophical Societies (and already of Phronesis), and in the Editorial Board of the Journal for Philosophy and Psychiatry, and of Atmospheric Spaces.
