Loris Dellea, Architect, is Director of the Conference of Technical Associations of the Canton of Ticino, which represents and defends the common interests of local engineers and architects. There is an active collaboration between SUPSI and CAT-TI for the organisation of continuing education courses.
What kind of collaboration is there with SUPSI in the area of continuing education?
At the end of 2019, CAT-TI and SUPSI signed a collaboration agreement for the organisation of continuing education courses with the Department of Environment Constructions and Design (DACD). The aim is to guarantee, develop and improve the scientific and practical knowledge of Ticino-based professionals in the fields of construction and the built environment.
What advantages does collaboration between professional associations and educational organisations such as in this case bring in practice?
Collaboration of this kind is essential and decisive for the dissemination of knowledge and new skills among professionals active in the aforementioned fields.
Updating and developing one's skills has become increasingly important for every single professional who is daily confronted with a constantly changing and evolving world of work. This applies not only to those who are at the beginning of their training, but also to those who, like me, already have several years of experience in the field.
Advice for professionals in the field?
As previously mentioned, continuous education and developing and improving new skills are necessary activities in order to remain professional and knowledgeable.
However, let us not forget that, at the basis of any project, there is always an idea, and this idea only stems from our dedication to the profession we practise.
