The ubiquitous integration of digital technologies in the workplace has affected work practices, management and organization. As we navigate this dynamic environment, it is critical to explore the multilayered aspects of digital transformations, particularly their implications for social justice.
The Swiss labor studies network LABORIS, in collaboration with the Work community of the Digital Society Initiative DSI, is organizing a Conference on work and social justice on December 13th, 2024 at the University of Zurich.
Nicolas Pons-Vignon and Gregorio Avilés, researchers at the Competence Centre for Labour, Welfare and Social Research at SUPSI, are members of the LABORIS committee. Nicolas Pons-Vignon is a member of the event's organizing committee and will speak with a paper entitled “Power relations in the digital economy.”
LABORIS is an interdisciplinary association of researchers and business actors founded on May 1th, 2023. The association aims to promote inter- and transdisciplinary research on the topic of work in Switzerland and across language boundaries. The starting point is a broad conception of work, which refines the view of the conflicts surrounding the recognition as “work” of a wide variety of activities.
In addition to strengthening research and teaching, LABORIS promotes information exchange, networking and the creation of discussion spaces and initiatives to boost cooperation between academic circles and actors from the world of work, civil society and politics.
