Every health care facility needs to know how to motivate and lead its teams, retain talent, convey values that identify it, and foster loyalty among its employees. All of this requires consciously developing leadership skills, thus ensuring that the strategic plan is well communicated, understood, and followed by all.
Nursing leadership is the ability to articulate a vision, establish relationships based on trust, raise awareness and engage staff, identify and embrace values and standards, and serve as a challenge in embracing change and achieving organizational goals. This role becomes critically important in influencing nurses' perceptions of their organization.
Moreover, when a leader succeeds in maintaining organizational well-being, job satisfaction, commitment, and effectiveness are generated in nurses, contributing to improved quality and safety for patients.
