September 15th, 2025
from 17:30 to 18:45
On one side, specialized knowledge, vertical expertise, and highly technical career paths; on the other, growing uncertainty and increasing complexity of the context. These are the two poles within which Project Managers navigate, seeking an overall vision from which to distill concreteness and effectiveness. Yet, within these rapid transformations lie the traces of a long and multifaceted evolution of thought. Understanding its main stages—even only in broad strokes—offers creative insights, revealing that the choice of a standard, a methodology, or a technology is never just the result of technical evaluations.
Presentation
Epistemology, in its contemporary sense, is the philosophy of science: a critical inquiry into the structure and methods of the sciences or of individual scientific disciplines.
Digital technology brings together a wide range of scientific knowledge that evolves over time, shaping new and unexpected syntheses.
Reflecting on ideas—tracing the roots of the key concepts of the Digital, starting with the very notion of “Digital” itself—fosters awareness, strengthens vision, and supports decision-making. Whether the focus is on Quality, Sustainability, Innovation, or Safety and Security, understanding the complexity in which projects develop, and embracing uncertainty as an inherent dimension, helps guide thoughtful choices and resilient solutions.
Working in uncertain and complex environments means developing probabilistic—not deterministic—scenarios. It requires embracing a performance-based logic, accepting uncertainty in order to fully understand and manage risks.
Speaker
Graduated in Civil Engineering from the Politecnico di Milano, independent professional since 1996. Consultant in organizational and information systems, digital transformation, and integrated systems for managing workplace safety, quality, environment, and innovation. Speaker at seminars and courses on complex systems, with a focus on technological innovation and digital culture. Auditor (1st and 2nd party) for ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 56002. Member of SWE, New York, and VDI, Düsseldorf. Associate engineer at AB3 Architettura Battistoni Associati. In Switzerland, member of Il Bernina, Esa Allez Hop Ticino Instructor, APM Switzerland, and HSE Ticino.
