December 16th, 2025
from 12.00 to 14.00
The focus of the next meeting in the Breakpoint series will be an educational movement centred on the teaching of the “philosophical research community” and the exercise of democratic dialogue as “maieutics”, in the wake of the thinking of Socrates and Dewey. This is Philosophy for Children (P4C), conceived in the 1970s by philosophers Lipman and Sharp, and recognised and supported by UNESCO's Division of Philosophy. Its main objective is to help students develop well-founded and reasoned thoughts, a sense of community and social responsibility.
Profoundly different from other models of argumentation (debate), P4C focuses on authentic collaboration and the experiences of young people (doubts, existential uncertainties) while creating a space for “philosophising”, for developing wonder and reasonableness.
