January 10th, 2024
from 17.30 to 19.30
The event is part of an Agora project (Agora is a programme financed by the Swiss National Science Foundation that aims to promote dialogue between science and society), which has focused precisely on punctuation and whose objective lies in communicating and disseminating outside the academic sphere the results of the many years of research on punctuation carried out by the Basel research team.
For this project, the team of scholars interacted with different categories of speech professionals, who write, work, learn and enjoy Italian: from print and radio journalists to translators of official texts of the Swiss Confederation, as well as Ticino teachers and their students, web operators and writers. Training courses, round tables and competitions have been organised with these interlocutors, with the aim of highlighting and communicating the importance of punctuation in the construction of written texts.
The Locarno show will stage a set of readings and performances on the theme of punctuation that will not fail to entertain but also make the audience reflect. On stage will be, among others, Simone Fornara, Head of the Competence Centre for the Teaching and Learning of Italian as a Language of Schooling (DILS) and Professor in Didactics of Italian at SUPSI, who will stage a real punctuation trial. The event is open to all and participation is free.
