Cristian Scapozza, Professor of Geomorphology, and Filippo Schenker, Senior Researcher in Geology, from the SUPSI Institute of Earth Sciences (Department of environment constructions and design), in collaboration with the San Bernardino Lab, will be the protagonists of an event open to the public: an excursion dedicated to how a geological map is made and its importance for reconstructing geological history and characterising natural hazards.

The rocks tell their story: from soil geology to the geological map, examples from San Bernardino
An excursion between San Bernardino and Val Vignun to spend time in the open air, discovering the rocks, deposits and geomorphological forms that allow us to reconstruct the geological history of San Bernardino, on a journey through ancient oceans, mountains rising from the sea and great glaciations.
The excursion is open to all and will be led by two researchers from the SUPSI Institute of Earth Sciences.
Meeting point: in front of the former alpine colony and school of San Bernardino, Strada de l'Acuforta 3, at 9.20 a.m.

It is recommended that you bring a packed lunch and sufficient water, warm and waterproof clothing, sun protection and shoes suitable for a mountain hiking trail.
