Concrete Structures
A decade after the first publication, we are pleased to present the third edition of the book (in Italian) "Concrete Structures" ("Strutture di calcestruzzo"), which collects the handouts elaborated during several years of teaching at the civil engineering degree course of the Department of Environment Constructions and Design (DACD) of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland.

SUPSI Image Focus
The various chapters, structured in five parts, bring together the main topics of concrete construction. In addition to the classical topics of structural dimensioning, more practical topics such as site execution and historical aspects are also covered, which are useful for both engineers and architects.
The exposition of topics is easy to access with a practical slant and with references to the SIA structural standards Swisscodes introduced in 2003. The third edition, with a new layout, is updated to the new provisions of SIA 262 'Concrete Structures' 2013 edition.

Cristina Zanini Barzaghi
Graduated in civil engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich in 1987. In her professional activity she specialised in structural calculations, gaining experience in the design of buildings and bridges in reinforced concrete, steel and wood. She is the owner of a civil engineering office and part-time lecturer at the DACD SUPSI (concrete structures course) from 1997 to 2013, the year in which she was elected as a municipal councillor of the city of Lugano. She currently combines politics with numerous consulting and promotional activities in the field of civil engineering.
Stefano Mina
Born in Ticino, he graduated in civil engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich in 1989. In his professional activity he has mainly focused on structural engineering, in particular the design and execution of buildings, bridges and structures made of reinforced and prestressed concrete, steel, wood, masonry and natural stone. A member of the management and chief engineer in a civil engineering firm, he is currently mainly involved in the design, construction and preservation of works, artefacts and infrastructures in the building and civil engineering sectors. In his professional role, he also integrates the role of leading project teams. Since 2017, he has been a part-time senior lecturer at DACD SUPSI (lecturer since 1998, concrete structures course and coordinated project, former lecturer of the statics and timber structures course).
Raffaele Cattaneo
Born in 1993, he graduated in 2015 with a degree in civil engineering from the Department of Environment, Construction and Design SUPSI. He held the position of teaching assistant in the civil engineering degree course at DACD SUPSI, where he supported the teachers of coordinated projects and courses in the field of steel and concrete structures. He was involved in the mandates and research projects of the Earth Sciences Institute. He assisted Cristina Zanini and Stefano Mina, his former lecturer, in the updating, implementation and revision of this new book.
In spite of all the effort put into the new edition of the book 'Concrete Structures' and the scrutiny of the authors and contributors, there are some unavoidable errors in the book. In order to avoid the carry-over of these errors into your work, we are publishing this errata corrige (in Italian) to point out the errors found and illustrate the corrections to be made. We advise you to note the changes directly in the text, so that you do not have to check the list of errors each time.
