On Thursday, 17 October 2024, at the Campus of the Department of environment constructions and design of SUPSI in Mendrisio, the Swiss Humanitarian Aid Unit and the Centre for Development and Cooperation SUPSI are proposing an information evening for construction and water professionals on the humanitarian context and the possibilities of participating in humanitarian missions on behalf of the Swiss government.

The recruitment procedure and eligibility criteria will be explained by experienced members of the Swiss Aid, who will lead specific discussion groups to illustrate the challenges of humanitarian work on the ground.
 
After an introduction, participants will be able to gather in groups, ask questions and interact with each other. The meeting will be attended by alumnae and alumni of the Department of environment constructions and design of SUPSI (in particular graduates in Architecture and Civil Engineering), as well as various organisations of professionals working in the field of water and construction.

The meeting, which is free and open to all interested persons, will end with an aperitif on offer.

Centre for Development and Cooperation SUPSI

It promotes applied research, knowledge development and innovation in the field of development and cooperation. It addresses partners such as non-governmental organisations, public institutions and social enterprises.
It collaborates regularly with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (the agency of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs responsible for Switzerland’s international cooperation).

Swiss Humanitarian Aid Unit

It is a fundamental pillar of Switzerland’s international cooperation. Founded half a century ago, it now has some 550 specialists ready to intervene anywhere in the world to provide assistance in the event of crises or natural disasters. Its experts intervene in projects run by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation or UN partners before, during and after a crisis or conflict.
